Genuine Norglass Chopped Strand Matt 1 SQM — the standard glass reinforcement used with Norglass Polyester Resin or Norsystem epoxy for construction and repair work on boats, Caravans and more.

Chopped strand mat (often called CSM or “matt”) is not a woven cloth. It is a random nest of short glass strands held in a loose sheet. That random lay-up is why it is the most common reinforcement in production boats and general GRP repair:

• Strength is spread in all directions, which suits patches, skins and moulded shapes
• It wets out quickly with polyester resin and consolidates into a rigid waterproof laminate
• Layers can be stacked where extra stiffness is needed
• Torn edges feather into the existing hull or deck better than a hard-cut cloth edge
• It is the usual mate for general-purpose polyester resin on boats, caravans, cars and wet-area repairs
